Best Co-Op: Peabody Heights Brewery

401 E. 30th St., (410) 467-7837,

We’ve already bellied up to the sleek new bar to throw back more than a few brews at Peabody Heights’ newly opened tasting room that pays homage to America’s favorite pastime in the building that now sits on what was once Old Oriole Park. Not only do we love the beers that Peabody is producing under its own labels (Public Works and Old Oriole Park), but we admire the co-op business plan that gives ambitious new brewers and small start-ups a place to collaborate with legendary Master Brewer Ernie Igot (formerly of San Miguel) and to brew and bottle as well. Plus, having that variety of beer brewing in-house means there are plenty to try on tours or from its 20 taps.
