Best Ascent to Relevancy: Pier Six Pavilion

731 Eastern Ave., (410) 783-4189, piersixpavilion.com

Every year Pier Six announces its schedule, and every year it is a parade of old-dude classic rockers. While 2015 was no different, we were pleasantly surprised by all the shows that felt a little more 2015. We’re thinking turnt rapper Future, pop parodyist Weird Al Yankovic, iconic singer Lauryn Hill, and schlubby comedian Jim Gaffigan. Most impressive, Pier Six hosted the local-music blowout of the summer, Windjammer, featuring Future Islands, Beach House, Dan Deacon, Ed Schrader’s Music Beat, Bond St. District, and more. Future and Windjammer were sell-outs, which goes to show, Pier Six, that Baltimore is willing to embrace stuff that gets played outside 100.7 The Bay.
