Celebrating its 100th year in Highlandtown, DiPasquale’s Italian Marketplace seems to be getting better with every year. Every home cook worth their salt knows that DiPasquale’s is the place to get those hard-to-find specialty items in Mario Batali’s cookbooks, but you can also get delicious pre-made food to take home or eat in house. The pasta salads, pizzas, subs (cold and hot), and Italian classics can all be had here on the cheap. They even sell beer and wine. Be sure to get the large homemade meatball sub ($9.95). It’s a half loaf of bread that’s hollowed out, stuffed with giant meatballs, cheese, and sauce, then baked. It will take you three sittings to eat it but you’ll love every minute of it.
