Best Empty Park Bench With a View

City Paper

Take a bike ride on the Gwynns Falls Trail, out past the new casino’s parking lots, around the waste treatment plant, and alongside the light-rail tracks between Westport and Cherry Hill, and at the end emerges Middle Branch Park, a quiet park along banks of the middle branch of the Patapsco River. Wide swaths of grass keep the view of the water and the Baltimore skyline clear, and benches sit staggered just back from the shoreline. Sure, according to “The Wire,” this park is just another place where deals are made, but we all know Baltimore’s not “The Wire,” and Middle Branch Park is for enjoying some of what makes this home of ours so damn beautiful.
