FORCE is run by Baltimore locals Rebecca Nagle and Hannah Brancato, but its influence has spread far beyond the city borders. FORCE went viral about two years ago when it created a fake Victoria’s Secret line of panties called “PINK loves CONSENT.” A lot of people thought the spoof was real and the internet freaked out with joy over the idea of Victoria’s Secret fighting rape culture. This year, the women of FORCE took their efforts into the real world with their Monument Quilt project, visiting 13 cities with quilt squares that rape survivors made as a way of demanding and creating a public space for those survivors to heal. Getting people to care about consent and rape culture, online and off, is an accomplishment that gets two big thumbs-up from us.
