Best Overdue Recognition

City Paper

Neil Feather recently told us that he saw his place in the city’s art scene as avuncular, which is an apt description, and so it’s all the sweeter to see your uncle receive well-deserved accolades—and money. Some have complained that this city—and its awards—offers little room for the mid-career artist, but Feather and Stewart Watson, another finalist, are happily proving that wrong. Feather’s ‘Rube Goldberg Variations’ was one of the best pieces of art displayed anywhere in the city this year, bringing to mind the best of Ed Kienholz, Rube Goldberg, and Bach.
