The even-keeled metronomic voice of Dr. Phoebe Stein (who is in a relationship with CP contributor Rafael Alvarez) would fit right in talking about Alec Baldwin’s Schweddy Balls on Saturday Night Live’s mock public-radio show “Delicious Dish.” Dr. Stein, whose name even sounds like an NPR-riffic combo of hippie and intellectual, is executive director of the Maryland Humanities Council and the subjects she talks about, from Baltimore’s painted screens to local literary luminaries, are often right up our alley—we’re total NPR nerds. But every time we hear the show, we find ourselves waiting for Dr. Stein to say “I like the way your balls smell.”
