Best MC

City Paper

Note the lack of adjectives, asterisks or quantifiers in the title of this award—the artist formerly known as Dappa!!! Dan Midas needs no subcategory based on his personal life or his style of hip-hop to be crowned the best rapper in Baltimore. It just so happens that since he came out as a gay man and began experimenting more with dance beats and out-there sonics that he reached his full artistic potential, most recently on the riotous single ‘Come Thru’ from the forthcoming “Life On Sale” EP. The battle-rap vet has also proven his versatility and star power, sounding at home collaborating with other talented Bmore MCs such as King Los as well as indie rockers including Dungeonesse’s Jenn Wasner and Jon Ehrens.
