Best Blast From the Past

The Hagerstown hard rockers are beloved here in Charm City, playing a yearly Christmas show, aptly titled Kix-mas, at Rams Head Live for years despite not putting out any new material since 1995. That all changed this year when, seemingly out of the blue, Kix decided 2014 was the year it would make its recorded return, dropping “Rock Your Face Off” this summer. “Rock Your Face Off” didn’t mess with the band’s formula too much, and that’s why it actually works, unlike so many other reunion albums that try to add too much polish. Hell, Kix even got written up on trendy hipster music sites such as Stereogum and Wondering Sound. Not too many 30-year-old bands can claim that.
