Best Illegal Trade

Grassfed on the Hill

There are plenty of sketchy things for sale in Baltimore, but some of the best stuff is white, creamy, and comes in a big glass bottle. Once you get hooked on raw milk, it's hard to go back to plain old grocery store dairy. But unfortunately for Baltimore's unpasteurized addicts, the government is cracking down. In March, after a two-year undercover investigation, the FDA busted Maryland-based raw-dairy-fbuying club Grassfed on the Hill, which had been illegally importing milk from Amish farmers in Pennsylvania. The government says raw milk is a potentially dangerous source of disease; fans say it's perfectly safe, has fewer chemicals, and tastes a lot more delicious. Grassfed has vowed to fight the government's charges.
