Swimming pools in Baltimore can be a tricky business. The city's public pools are full of shrieking tweens and the members-only, private ones are prohibitively expensive for most of us. So what's a sad, overheated, stingy Baltimorean to do? Never fear-just hurry over to the rooftop swimming spot on the deck of the Hopkins House apartment complex in Charles Village. For an entirely reasonable $5 entry fee ($10 on the weekends), you get access to a poolside lounge chair and a relatively quiet, not-too-chlorinated swimming spot that stays open until 8 P.M. The only glaring flaw is the lack of a snack bar, so be sure to bring your own Choco Tacos.
