Dan Deacon's "True Thrush"

Deacon's smart, high-energy, creative, optimistic spirit reflects the Baltimore arts community so well, it's scary, and this video is like a four-minute, 58-second encapsulation of the same spirit. The clip is a visual game of telephone: Deacon and director Ben O'Brien start by performing a short but detailed skit, then has another pair recreate it from memory, then another, until 19 sets of people-including lots of local arts luminaries, including BMA director Doreen Bolger and members of Future Islands-have taken a turn. The skit became an ecstatic, messy affair, far removed from the original. We love everything about it-and the song too-and look forward to whatever Deacon comes up with next.
