Best Baltimorean

There's relatively little not to like about the kid from Rodgers Forge who wound up The Best Olympian Ever. OK, so he doesn't give the most scintillating interviews-it's hard to put words together when you're weighed down with 22 Olympic medals. Phelps has won 18 gold medals, twice as many as anybody else has ever won. TWICE AS MANY! Seriously, one of his abs could probably outswim Aquaman. As for the pot pics a few years back, that's a plus in our book, along with his obsession with Lil' Wayne and Young Jeezy. The best thing of all, though, is that, even while he was busy showing up that classless douchebag Lochte (you'd never catch our boy trying to wear a grill to his medal ceremony), the Towson High School grad never stopped showing love to Baltimore. Despite lots of opportunities to settle elsewhere, he continued to live in Fells Point, train at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club in Mount Washington, and eat breakfast at Pete's Grille on Greenmount Avenue right up until go-time in London, and his obsession with the Ravens and Orioles rivals that of any Flacco Wacko in town. And through the Michael Phelps Foundation (founded with his first $1 million bonus from Speedo) and the Michael Phelps Swim School, the Olympic hero continues to support the city that spawned him, making him a true Baltimore hero.
