MICA, adjuncts union reach deal on labor contract

By a vote of 91-7, part-time faculty members at MICA, represented by SEIU Local 500, reached a three-year contract with the school's administration.

As a summary of the contract on the SEIU's site notes, terms of the deal include a new salary scale for three-credit courses, job security measures such as third-party arbitration and "just cause" discipline or dismissal, access to benefits including "medical plans at employee's full cost [and] credit union membership," and a labor-management collaboration committee for grievances.

City Paper first reported on the organizing efforts of MICA adjunct professors in March 2014.

We'll update this piece with more updates as we receive them.
