Happening Sunday: Basement Media Festival, Maryland Doom Fest, and more

-Basement Media Festival: We enjoy watching obscenely expensive special effects and A-list celebrities blow up on large outdoor projections, but there’s something special about rare short films that use only the filmmaking essentials and a few low-tech tricks. Complement your blockbuster movie night with a visit from this traveling showcase of 10 contemporary lo-fi films, followed by a Q&A with Basement Media Fest co-creator and curator LJ Frezza. 8 p.m., The Crown, 1910 N. Charles St., (410) 625-4848, basementmediafest.com, $6 suggested donation. (Maura Callahan)

-From the Short List: Pianists Felicia Clarke and Robert Hitz and baritone Lee Moore dip into Schubert at An die Musik Live. Merle Allin, brother of GG Allin, plays the Windup Space with Zane Campbell and Sean P. Preston. Don’t miss: The final night of the Maryland Doom Fest at Café 611 features Iron Man, Foehammer, Mind’s Eye, and more. (Al Shipley)
