Expert witness in George Zimmerman case called by attorneys for Porter

Defense attorneys for Officer William Porter, the first Baltimore Police officer on trial in the death of Freddie Gray, called a forensic pathologist who testified in the George Zimmerman case to the stand today.

Dr. Vincent Di Maio, the author or co-author of four books and an expert in gunshot wounds, testified "he saw evidence of at least six impacts on Zimmerman's head. He also said those blows were likely the result of severe force, backing up Zimmerman's claims he killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in self-defense," as Business Insider noted in July 2013. His testimony conflicted with several medical experts presented by the state.

In today's proceedings, Di Maio said Gray's death should have been ruled an accident, according to The Sun.
