City Paper taking part in a mayoral debate and two forums

It's election season, and while it seems like there's some forum or panel every other night leading up to the Democratic primary on April 26, the field is incredibly packed, so it may take a lot of time for voters to sort this thing out.

We here at City Paper, Baltimore's only alternative weekly, are here to help by helping to put on one debate and two forums.

The debate, hosted with WEAA-FM, The Afro, and the Morgan State University Spokesman, will take place on March 10 from 7-9:30 p.m. at Morgan State's Murphy Hall.

CP's Karen Houppert, Marc Steiner, Marsha Jews of "Keep It Moving Marsha Jews," Sean Yoes of the Afro, and Charles D. Ellison of and "The Ellison Report" will serve as moderators. The night's theme is "ASK. LISTEN. VOTE: Solutions and Strategies for the Future." Seating is open to the public and the debate will be aired live on WEAA. Check @BaltimoreDebate on Twitter for more updates.

Additionally, CP is working with the Open Society Institute-Baltimore and Associated Black Charities to hold two mayoral forums, on Feb. 24 and March 16.

The first forum will be held at Pleasant Hope Baptist Church (430 E. Belvedere Ave.) and hosted by Dr. Heber M. Brown III. The second will be held at Union Baptist Church (1219 Druid Hill Ave.) and hosted by Rev. Alvin C. Hathaway Sr. Both begin at 7 p.m. and are open to the public.

Come out and hear what the candidates have to say. And be sure to vote.
