Baltimore City sheriff candidate David Wiggins wigs out over Ray Rice domestic violence

David Anthony Wiggins likes to put a "©" after his name, but he might not want to copyright his latest posts about the Ray Rice story that erupted this week, after TMZ posted video of the Ravens player knocking his then-fiancee, Janay Rice, unconscious in an Atlantic City hotel elevator early this year.

Wiggins, the Republican candidate for Baltimore City sheriff (as he was in 2010), got into it with fellow FB commenters on the page of Alana Davenport, who works in HIV support at a local crisis-response center. At one point, Davenport chides Wiggins, writing, "David, I am really disappointed in you. You have always presented yourself as a voice for the oppressed," after Wiggins had asked other commenters to "stop making excuses for female violence against men."

Wiggins is running against longtime incumbent Democrat John Anderson, whose management of the agency has been appropriately criticized over the years. But, given some of Wiggins' rhetoric, voters could be forgiven for confusing him with Michael Anthony Peroutka, the GOP's 5th District candidate for Anne Arundel County Council, who, like Wiggins, asserts that Planned Parenthood is actually a genocide campaign against African-Americans.

"Maybe if she had kept her hands to herself he wouldn't have knocked her out," Wiggins says of Janay Rice, adding that "keeping your hands to yourself is a novel idea" that "more abusive women should try" and that "she caused her own so-called victimhood by perpetrating violence."

"What I'm reading from those of you who claim she is a victim," Wiggins continues, "is that it is okay for women to hit, slap, and assault men and there is never a reason for a man to hit a woman who is committing the crime of battery against him–that is total white liberal bullshit."

Continuing his argument, Wiggins tells the other commenters that "you haven't said diddly about her poor impulse control, but I guess according to your logic, women are genetically predisposed to be impulsive and men should make allowances thereto. I fault them both, I never said she deserved it, but I'm honest enough to admit I don't feel any sympathy for either of them."

"I'm not hung up on either one," he continues, referring to both of the Rices, adding that "as a Black man I have an aversion to hanging and being hung." Then he lets out a zinger: "Women want equality she got some of it."

After saying "whites in general as a collective should shut the fuck up about violence" because "you're the most violent people on the face of the planet collectively," he takes on Planned Parenthood, calling it a "sacred cow of white feminism" that "was founded by a racist genocidal maniac named Margret [sic] Higgins Sanger who admitted the goal was to eliminate the Blacks in the U.S." Asking "why should we trust anything white feminist[s] have to say" since "you're still advocating the genocidal policies of that scurrilous murderous misanthrope" who wrote that "we do not want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population," Wiggins—in an ironic twist, given the actual genocide known as the Holocaust—displays his anti-Semitism.

"There are only white Jew women on this thread telling me what black women think," he writes, "and I find that to demonstrate that your agenda which is the same as Margaret Sanger's agenda does not resonate with educated Afrocentric/African women in America because they do not want to be a part of your violent racist culture filled with racist double standards," adding that, "when you whites particularly you Jews stop killing women in the middle east with your dual citizenship, then come talk to me about protecting women's rights."

This isn't the first time Wiggins has made offensive comments about Jews. In 2012, he left a blog comment—reported by the Baltimore Crime blog—saying that "I stand behind my statement that Jews can get away with anything in this city," adding that Baltimore City state's attorney "Gregg Bernstein, a Jew, is violating the Civil Rights of the People to equal access to the courts and denying the Right of the People to appear before the Foreman of the Grand Jury, and he is being protected on a federal level by Rod Rosenstein, a Jew, in his criminality."

"If you don't vote for me, you don't vote for me," Wiggins writes on Davenport's FB page, "but I refuse to engage in your collective insanity." Many voters may well say the same of him.
