O's win 12-3! Lead the ALDS 1-0! Ain't the beer COLD!!
Crowd chanting: "We won't stop!"
Worried about a post-game pie shortage at this point,,, Who gets 'em?
10-3 O's! Even the Seven Nation Army is drunk!
Would you believe we ran into MORE O's fans in team sleepwear? Yes, it's a snuggy. What the fuck??
Ran into 'Country Boy' Bird by the beer!
While heading back up to the press box with a snack, we bumped into Governor Martin O'Malley on his way up to the club level. Asked for a quote, he said, "Go O's!" When asked of the team's chances, O'Malley replied: "I love our chances. It's exciting and the whole city is pumped up. It's amazing how people come together when the Orioles have a chance to win." He then exited the elevator and spoke with well-wishers. Before we headed back downstairs, the governor posed for a selfie with Downtown Diane.
Flag court fans so drunk they misspelled "O's"
An Orioles adult onesie? An Orioles adult onesie. Kevin Weems of Easton figured rather than buying cold weather gear for fall baseball, he'd rock a custom-made pajamas out of Orioles fabric. There are patches from Orioles history sewn on the outfit, including commemorative patches from the last game at Memorial Stadium and Cal Ripken Jr.'s final game. The circular Maryland flag the team has on its jerseys purposefully covers his heart. Weems says he's been stopped for about 50 pictures throughout the game and was interviewed on Fox 45. Someone with MLB credentials told Weems they'd never seen anything like it. "That made my night," Weems said.
Budweiser Mango-Rita selling like hotcakes. These people will buy ANYthing orange.
Announced attendance 47,842.
Great deals at the Yard! Cases of Bud just $205!
Orioles Fan of the Game time. Folks are HYPED.
Apparently cheering in the press room is looked down upon. Noted. Also, Tillman!!
Ian Kinsler's press shot looks like a roided up Joey from Friends.
A couple outside Baseline Burgers is taking a break from the game to make out in the concourse. Guess they are unaware Tillman is in a bit of a jam.
The Detroit fans seem to be enjoying themselves. Perhaps they're shocked by the city's high occupancy rate.
The end goal: The World Series trophies from 1970 and 1983 on display in the club level. Where's the 1966 trophy you ask? Turns out it doesn't exist--the first trophy was given out in 1967.
7:03 p.m .
Jumbotron has a commercial for baseball. Seems unnecesary.
Tillman up to 6 Ks, wracking up more than Bo Jackson trying to call up his koala bear. (sorry.)
And here's Batts behind section 40...
Ketchup, mustard, and relish race. Relish has been really juicing. It's embarrassing.
Police Commissioner Anthony Batts was taking in the action with two guards behind section 40. Asked what he thought of the team's chances, Batts responded with a laugh: "How am I liking our chances? We're going all the way. Guaranteed."
If you're reading this from a Bed, Bath, and Beyond, wondering where all the orange hand towels went, wonder no more. They're here...
Adam Jones up, the corwd already on its feet.
Tillman pitch count (63) higher than Michael Phelps on vacation in Colorado, but we're up 3-2 and out of the inning, so so far, so good.
The popcorn in the press room = not bad.
And here's a photo of Jalin* Barnes with his souvenir...
Here at Camden Yards, the crowd seems to have a pro-Orioles bias. Just saying.
Markakis 1-1 in the post season, doubled and scored in first. Now up in third - 2 for 2!! Nick on FIRE! Grow a beard, kids....
Playoff Jumbotron graphics budget must be HUGE! Claymation everywhere.
Jalin* Barnes, 9, caught the Cruz home run ball. Barnes was in attendance with the Boys and Girls Club. One of his supervisors, Valerie Price, said the ball struck her in the head before landing a few rows up in the hands of Barnes.
The O's have doubled the number of middle-aged men wearing khakis protecting the sideline from drunken streakers.
Shit! Another one, this time from JD Martinez, ties it up 2-2. Three big shots already tonight despite a stiff wind coming in from the outfield.
Victor Martinez with a solo shot, makes it 2-1. Fan dutifully throws ball back on the field....
Of course! With one on and two out, Nelson Cruz launches a blast to right center field. O's up 2-0.
The Orioles donated 700 tickets for game one and game two to various youth organizations in Baltimore City. They're cheering on the Birds in section 98.
And Tillman strrikes out the side! Great start!
And another one! 25 to go...
Tillman begins his post-season career with a strike-out! 26 to go...
We're live at Camden Yards, where we just heard the biggest "O" imaginable during the National Anthem. Stay tuned.
*An earlier version of this post misstated the first name of the young boy who caught Nelson Cruz's home run. It is Jalin, not Jake. City Paper regrets the error.
