Mountain Goats singer John Darnielle among the headliners at this year's CityLit Festival

John Darneille, the lead singer and guitarist of The Mountain Goats, the indie-folk trio that recently released an album of songs about pro wrestling, is among the headliners at this year's musically themed CityLit Festival. Also the author of the novel "Wolf in White Van," Darnielle will sit with WYPR's Tom Hall for an interview at the literature celebration, set for May 2 at the Enoch Pratt Library's central branch.

City Paper named "Wolf in White Van," which follows the struggles of a man whose face is disfigured after a failed suicide attempt, one of the top 10 fiction works of 2014. At the time, staffer Brandon Soderberg wrote, "'Wolf In White Van' takes seriously things most authors don't take very seriously here: fantasy novels, heavy metal, and the fragile psyches of teens killed by adult complacency long before they attempt to kill themselves."

The list of other guests includes Frank Portman, aka Dr. Frank of the punk band The Mr. T Experience, who will read from the sequel to his young adult novel "King Dork," titled "King Dork Approximately."
