Listen to a single from the first (and last) tape by Retired

The band Retired was a blip on the Baltimore music radar, writing only four songs and playing only two shows before calling it quits. But the band's pedigree is undeniable: Denny Bowen from Double Dagger and Roomrunner, Megan Lloyd (a City Paper contributing photographer) of Crimson Wave, Zach Inscho of Wildhoney, and Stephanie Fogle of Hive Bent. Each has taken part, or is still taking part, in some of the best DIY bands in the city, so the idea that they would join forces, if only for a fleeting moment, is pretty exciting.

If you missed the two shows—as I did—there's at least now a recorded artifact of the band's existence. First single 'Me You Her' is a post-rock dirge with haunting vocals. Stream it below.

The self-titled four-track release, available digitally and on cassette, is due out in spring via Accidental Guest Recordings.
