Dan Deacon is opening for Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz, and he understands how weird that is

Dan Deacon will open a few dates for Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz, a collaboration between the pop singer and psych-rock group the Flaming Lips.

It's weird that this group exists at all, and it's especially weird Deacon is going to open for them, something the musician himself understands.

In a release announcing the dates, he issued the following statement: "I felt like I was in the 'Phantom Tollbooth' when the offer to open the Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz tour came in, but I have a pretty weird life and tend to end up in really bizarre situations that I never in a million years would have pictured. I think its safe to say without any doubt that the experience of touring with Miley and The Flaming Lips will be one of the most reality curving events of my career thus far. Mostly I'm really looking forward to introducing my music and performance to her fans and to watch this show unfold each night."

Indeed.

The closest stop to Baltimore is a Nov. 27 show at Echostage in Washington, D.C. that's already sold out. Here are the other dates:

Nov. 19 - Chicago @ Riviera
Nov. 21 - Detroit @ Fillmore
Nov. 28 - New York @ Terminal 5
Dec. 5 - Philadelphia @ Electric Factory
Dec. 6 - Boston @ House Of Blues
