Craft beer bar Wet City opening in old Dougherty's space

Wet City, a new craft beer and cocktail bar, will open in the space once occupied by the recently departed Dougherty's Pub

Drawing its name from Baltimore's supposed defiance during Prohibition, the new bar is the brainchild of brothers PJ and Josh Sullivan—the latter being a former bar manager at the Maryland Club and Dooby's and a craft cocktail blogger at Post Prohibition.

Back in October, a Twitter account linked to the bar began touting some of Wet City's homemade craft beers, and it sounds like they'll be pretty good: a homebrewing team of which Josh is a member took the top prize at both the Baltimore Craft Beer Festival's Homebrewing Competition and Mash Bash, a competition put on by Nepenthe Homebrewing and Parts & Labor.

According to a press release, there will be a wide selection beyond the bar's house brews.

"We're looking forward to having beer from all over the world on tap," says Josh. "I'm someone who wants to try everything, and I want to give customers the opportunity to try some cool beers that they won't often see on tap. It’ll be a place for beer-lovers and people open to expanding their palette."

In addition to beers, Wet City will feature cocktails and a menu of locally sourced food. The bar is scheduled to open in early spring.
