One of Baltimore's top sommeliers, Chris Coker, has landed a new plum job with Bryan Voltaggio's new spot in Power Plant Live!, called Aggio.
"I would like to 'officially' let everyone know that I have resigned from Jack's Bistro to pursue a job opportunity that I could not ignore. I have accepted the Sommelier position at Aggio in downtown Baltimore,” Coker announced on his Facebook page.
Aggio, scheduled to open next week, features a classic Italian menu which will pay close attention to locally sourced, domestic products, a Voltaggio trait. Chef-sourced specialty ingredients such as oak-smoked Pecorino cheese from Wisconsin, Tennessee hams cured in the style of prosciutto di Parma, specialty flours from South Carolina for handmade pastas are just two examples.
Coker will be working with Master Sommelier Keith Goldston and the 150-bottle wine (all Italian) and champagne list.
