Wednesday: Bonnie Raitt

Aug. 24

Bonnie Raitt's new record sounds just like the old ones, and nothing wrong with that. From the twangy, Ry Cooder-esque guitar vamps that open 'Gypsy in Me' to the 'Something to Talk About' drums that lead into to her rendition of INXS’s 'I Need You Tonight,' all she has to do to make any song completely her own is sing it. Speaking of which, Richard Thompson opens. Raitt and Thompson have been known to play well together: two virtuosos whose musical passion keeps them forever in their prime.  Google “Richard Thompson White Room"—you'll see what I mean. 7:30 p.m., Pier Six Pavilion, 731 Eastern Ave., (410) 783-4189,, $40-$85.
