Prince Dance Party/Bmore Does Bowie

When the world loses a beloved artist, it mourns for weeks. Baltimore mourns for months, at least. It’s been three months since we lost Prince and seven since the death of David Bowie. So it’s fitting that this year’s Artscape After Hours programming includes tributes to the Thin White Duke and the Purple One, both celestial sex gods in their own right. On Friday night, Wendel Patrick and DJ Dubbl8 of the Baltimore Boom Bap Society kick off a Prince dance party, and on Saturday night, Bowie gets the Baltimore treatment with covers by Scroll Downers (featuring CP contributor Lexie Mountain as well as former members of Dope Body) and tribute band The Band that Fell to Earth, among others. Prince Dance Party 9-11 p.m. July 15, Bmore Does Bowie 9-11 p.m. July 16; Johns Hopkins University Station North Stage,, free. (Maura Callahan)
