Since January 1, 2016, the city has issued 164,727 parking tickets, according to its own records on the Open Baltimore website. If folks pay up, it stands to collect $7.6 million from scofflaws. The fines range from $23 for a parking meter violation to $502 for parking in a handicap spot.
For a snapshot of what that looks like—and what areas are being heavily patrolled—we took one day last week, June 21 and mapped the parking tickets. That day, the city issued 1,013 parking tickets, hoping to collect a total of $49,966. (Karen Houppert)Copyright © 2019, Baltimore City Paper
