“Let There Be Gwar”

Nov. 12

Richmond, Virginia's high-concept sci-fi metal heroes have been doing their over-the-top rock shtick for more than 20 years, with live shows and music videos full of big foam space barbarian accoutrements and lots of fake blood, piss, and semen. It's like Gallagher meets Hawkwind meets Richard Corben. For a deep gnarly dive into Gwar mythology there is Bob Gorman and Roger Gastman's comprehensive coffee table book "Let There Be Gwar," released last year. Meet and greet and get a signed copy of "Let There Be Gwar" at Atomic Books when the band takes over the Hampden bookstore for the evening. 7 p.m., Atomic Books, 3620 Falls Rd., (410) 662-4444, atomicbooks.com, free.
