Lane Harlan's Mezcal Tour in Photos

In early March, Lane Harlan, owner of W.C. Harlan's traveled to Oaxaca, Mexico "seeking a deeper understanding of the culture surrounding an often misunderstood spirit, Mezcal." Technically, tequila is a type of mezcal made in five Mexican states and can only be made from one type of agave; blue weber. True artisanal mezcal can be made in eight states by up to 50 known sub-species of agave, according to Harlan, who is opening Clavel, a mezcaleria and taqueria in May.
