July 23-24: German Fest

You could go to the 116th annual German Fest just to hang out and drink beer in the air conditioned Exhibition Hall. Or you could go “ironically” in order to gawk at the tourist-Teutonic entertainment, and the old dudes in lederhosen. But if you really want the full experience, do yourself a favor and go in “full tracht.” You’ll get in free, and everyone will love you. After a few beers, maybe you’ll love yourself, too. Saturday 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m., Sunday 11:30 a.m.-6 p.m., Maryland State Fairgrounds Exhibition Hall, 2200 York Road, Timonium, md-germans.org/maryland-german-festival, $6-$8. (Edward Ericson Jr.)
