Murders this Week: 3; Murders this Year: 213

Three murders and four non-fatal shootings punctuated a week in which the 2013 murder total reached 213, four fewer than the total for all of 2012.

Tuesday, Nov. 19

7:40 p.m. A man whose identity police have not yet released was shot multiple times while on the 2400 block of Lauretta Avenue in the Rosemont neighborhood. Western District officers responded. He died after being taken to a hospital.

Friday, Nov. 22

11:35 p.m. Victor Anderson, a 23-year-old African-American man, was on the 5000 block of Sinclair Lane when he was stabbed in the abdomen. Northeastern District police and medics came. Anderson made it to a hospital but died shortly afterward. Police believe Anderson got into an argument earlier in the evening, then returned to the area later with other people, got in a fight, and was stabbed. He lived on the 5500 block of Force Road, about 1,000 feet from where his life ended.

Saturday, Nov. 23

2:45 p.m. Demetrius Beatty, a 37-year-old African-American man, was shot in the head, police believe, on the 4200 block of Woodridge Road in Rognel Heights. Southwestern District police were called to a spot 100 feet away, the curve where Kevin Road turns into Cranston Avenue, for shots fired and found Beatty there. He died at a hospital.
