Murders this Week: 2; Murders this Year: 169

There were only two murders this week but several shootings victims, including a 9-year-old shot in the gut. It happened shortly after midnight Wednesday morning on the 1000 block of Bethune Road. Police said the boy was expected to survive and they arrested Kenneth Graham, a 37-year-old African-American man. He was charged with attempted murder, assault, and handgun crimes.

Thursday, Sept. 19

2:05 p.m. Ricky Price, a 21-year-old African-American man, was on the 1700 block of North Milton Avenue near the intersection with East Lafayette Avenue when someone shot him and another person. Police found him on the ground with at least one gunshot wound and got him to a hospital, where he died shortly thereafter. The second victim walked into a hospital where he was being treated for his injuries, according to police.

Saturday, Sept. 21

At 2:12 a.m. Northwestern District police were called for an "injured person" on the 5400 block of Crismer Avenue in the Woodmere neighborhood. There they found Robert Jackson, a 34-year-old African-American man, shot several times. He was dead. They released no further information about what happened.

Updates: Police charged four people with the Sept. 2 beating death of Donald Robinson, an African-American man who was on the sex offender registry. Police say Laitqwa Mayes, a 19-year-old African-American woman, spotted Robinson walking in Reservoir Hill on the 800 block of Lennox Street and yelled out that he had raped her. Mayes' father, Willie Mayes, 59, then came after Robinson while Kwan Blackburn and Malik Hampton-Cummings, both 17-year-old African-American men who were playing basketball nearby, also jumped Robinson, punching and kicking him on the street until he died.
