This Chinese/Italian sandwich shop/takeout place just opened blocks away from CP HQ in the vacated Sub Works (and before that, Five Guys) space at the bottom of Gallery Tower. It's a big, big change from the Five Guys, since this place is all about LOW fat and sodium. Perusing the menu of a few stir-fries, sandwiches, and salads, we opted for the combo meal, which is an entree, side, salad, dessert, and drink: a hefty amount for $7.80. We ordered the Chinese stir-fried vegetables, brown rice, cranberry spinach salad, orange juice, and a fruit cup for dessert. The vegetables were done well and had a very mild gingery flavor. They were most assuredly low-sodium and were helped by the few salt packets that came with the meal. We loved the spinach salad. It was flavorful, with lots of crunchy almonds and tangy cranberries. The raw onions tended to overpower, so we took them out. The fruit cup was unimpressive. Next time, we'll do without the dessert.
A week later, we decided to give it another try. This time, we ordered the sweet-and-sour tofu ($6) with noodles ($1), which was very tasty and was even tastier with the Sriracha sauce they have at the takeout counter. We asked if they could stir-fry the noodles with the tofu and vegetables to soak up extra flavor, and they were very accommodating. The sauteed chicken sandwich ($6.50) was tasty as well, with a slightly creamy rosemary sauce. The flavors were complex and delicious. It's nice to have a healthy option so close by; let's hope that they can make it in this slightly challenged location.
