THURSDAY: Start the Tab and Axe the Stache, both bands whose names are sound advice, play the Sidebar. The ModernWorks Music Ensemble features the unlikely combination of violin, cello, and accordion at UMBC's Fine Arts Recital Hall. German guitarist and veteran of neoclassical metal Uli Jon Roth shreds at the House of Rock in White Marsh. French prog metalheads Gojira plays Rams Head Live with the Atlas Moth. Sac Au Lait swings at Joe Squared Station North. Nine-piece Brooklyn band Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds cram into the 8x10.
FRIDAY: Crowded Streets and Blame Canada, tribute bands who play the music of Dave Matthews Band and Rush, respectively, share the bill at Rams Head Live. The Red Room hosts a unique night in which acts like Talk Show and Burt perform graphic scores. Pianist and composer Kris Davis releases her new album, Capricorn Climber, with a celebration at An die Musik. The Nolafunk Mardi Gras Ball Tour with Kermit Ruffins and the BBQ Swingers comes to Baltimore Soundstage. Feed the Scene presents the first night of the RABTFest at the Sidebar with Trashkanistan, Rebel Inc, the Deckards, and Mason Summers. Creative Alliance at the Patterson presents Blues in the Night, Arty Hill's tribute to Johnny Mercer, featuring performances from Mink Stole and Felicia Carter. The Peabody Concert Orchestra performs at Miriam A. Friedberg Concert Hall. Don't miss: Arbouretum, who just released its latest excellent Thrill Jockey album, Coming out of the Fog, plays the Golden West with Sterling Sisters and Drums of Death.
SATURDAY: Feed the Scene presents the second night of the RABTFest at the Sidebar with War on Women, the Holy Mess, and the Firecrackers. Long-running regional cover band Mr. Greengenes plays its final Maryland show at Rams Head Live. Beatlemania Now wants to hold your hand at the Hippodrome. The Concert for Hope 7, to benefit HopeWell Cancer Support, features music by Gypsy Dawg, PRS Band, and Cris Jacobs at the Recher Theatre. The Rhonda Robinson Quartet brings the bossa nova to An die Musik. Stillglow, Eyes Wide, This Is Our Fight, and more play a benefit for the Charm City Art Space. The KB Project plays instrumental funk at Joe Squared Station North. Don't miss: The Evens show at 2640 Space, which was originally scheduled in January but postponed for illness, finally happens tonight.
SUNDAY: Lisa Matthews and Mikel Gehl of Love Riot perform a Valentine's Cabaret at the Patterson Theatre. Beatlemania Now hopes that you'll enjoy its second show at the Hippodrome. Matthew Odell plays the sonatas of Elliott Carter at An die Musik. Further Seems Forever, featuring John Stamos lookalike Chris Carrabba, plays the Ottobar with Have Mercy, named for Stamos' Full House catchphrase. R&B crooner Avant performs at Baltimore Soundstage.
MONDAY: 98 Rock's Noise in the Basement local-band showcase has its second week at its new home, the Ottobar. George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic continue to roam the earth, and you should see them at the 9:30 Club in Washington if you haven't already.
TUESDAY: The Brad Linde Ensemble performs the music of Dewey Redman at An die Musik. The Out of Your Head collective assembles its latest lineup at the Windup Space. Rufus Wainwright plays solo at the 9:30 Club down in Washington.
WEDNESDAY: Local jazz/not-jazz adventurers Microkingdom plays with special guests at the Windup Space. Conor Mulroy plays bluegrass at Joe Squared Station North. The Peabody Wind Ensemble performs at Miriam A. Friedberg Concert Hall.
