Murders this Week: 3; Murders this Year: 9

The man stabbed to death in the 5400 block of York Road on Jan. 11 has been identified as Michael Anthony Price, a 29-year-old African-American man. An arrest has also been made in this case. Lonnie Murrill, a 42-year-old African-American man, was arrested two days after the stabbing.

Tuesday, Jan. 15

10:47 A.M. Police were called to the 3900 block of West Mulberry Street in Allendale for a shooting. When they arrived, they saw a Ford pickup truck in the alley. Michelle Adrian, a 17-year-old Caucasian female from Middletown in Frederick County, and a 19-year-old Caucasian male were in the truck. Adrian was shot numerous times. The male had also been shot. They were both taken to area hospitals; Adrian died at 11:32 A.M. The male survived. According to police, Adrian and the 19-year-old went to the block to buy drugs. Dorrien Allen, an 18-year-old African-American male, was arrested the next day and charged with murder, robbery, and other related offenses. Adrian is the second minor murdered this year.

Wednesday, Jan. 16

11:05 P.M. On the other side of Cathedral Cemetery from where Adrian was killed, in the 3700 block of Old Frederick Road, an as-yet-unidentified male was discovered lying on the sidewalk shot several times. He died at a city hospital less than an hour later.

Saturday, Jan. 19

11:49 P.M. Melissa Davis, a 44-year-old African-American woman, was found lying on the floor of her home in the 300 block of East North Avenue, across the street from the Baltimore City Public Schools headquarters and three blocks east of the Windup Space. She had been stabbed. She was taken to a local hospital, where she died just after midnight. Police arrested Davis' husband, Darren Ruffin, a 47-year-old African-American man. Ruffin allegedly stabbed his wife during an argument.


Darryl Cloud, a 43-year-old African-American man, pleaded guilty on Jan. 11 to the murder of Patsy Person, a 44-year-old African-American woman. Person asked Cloud to move out of her home in the 200 block of North Belnord Avenue on July 9, 2011. During the discussion, Person's 10-year-old and 6-year-old daughters saw Cloud hit her. The next morning, the girls found their mother lying on her bedroom floor. The walls were splattered with blood. A rag had been placed over her head and a flashlight was protruding from her anus. Person's daughters went to a neighbor's house to get help. Their mother was dead as a result of blunt force trauma to her head. Cloud, who eventually confessed to murdering Person, was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

On Jan. 14, Anthony Cole, a 30-year-old African-American man, was convicted of murdering Phillip Scott, a 34-year-old African-American man., and trying to kill his estranged wife. Scott was sitting next to Cole's wife in the 1900 block of Etting Street on April 14, 2012. Cole rode up to the pair on a bicycle, got off the bike, and smacked his wife in the face. Scott tried to leave but Cole shot him twice, killing him. Cole then tried to shoot his wife as she ran into a home to get away from him but missed.

Genesis Collins Jr., a 42-year-old African-American man, was convicted on Jan. 16 of murdering his mother. On May 5, 2011, Audrey Collins, a 67-year-old African-American woman, was at home with her son Genesis in the 3800 block of Cottage Avenue. He told his mother that he owed drug dealers money. He was upset that she wouldn't give him the money he needed to pay them back and said he wanted to kill himself. Genesis then doused his head with rubbing alcohol and lit himself on fire. He jumped on his mother and held onto her causing her to become severly burned as well. Someone, who has not been identified, stabbed Genesis several times to try to make him free Audrey. Genesis let go and ran outside where he was found by police. Audrey died on Sept. 1, 2011. Genesis survived.
