The Olive Room may not have the big name cachet of other hotel restaurants in town, but it certainly has both the culinary pedigree (in the Spiliadis family, owners of the original Black Olive on Bond Street) and the magnificent harbor view. Few restaurants-much less hotel restaurants-offer pita slathered with za'atar, Greek fisherman's soup, or imam bayaldi. Fewer serve housemade hilopites (Greek pasta) or kleftiko, a slow-cooked lamb dish. Casual rather than flashy and personal instead of corporate, the food at the Olive Room makes you feel like a traveler in the Mediterranean, even when you're at home in Baltimore.
