10:15 P.M. A man was in the 3800 block of East Pratt Street in Highlandtown when three males robbed him. The males then drove off in a dark-colored vehicle. Jose Carranza, a 32-year-old Hispanic man, and a 50-year-old Hispanic man drove up to the robbery victim. The man told them he had been robbed. Carranza and the 50-year-old then drove after the robbers, to the 200 block of South Eaton Street, where they blocked the robbers' car so they couldn't get away. One of the robbers got out of the car and shot at Carranza and his companion. Carranza was shot in the chest and the 50-year-old was shot in the arm. They drove off to avoid more gunfire and the robbers fled. Carranza died at an area hospital at 11 P.M. The other man survived.

Update: On Sept. 4, Timothy Kittrell, a 29-year-old African-American man, was convicted of the double shooting that left Isaiah Roane, a 29-year-old African-American man, dead. Roane and another man were at a red light in the 3500 block of Dolfield Avenue on Sept. 7, 2011. Kittrell pulled up beside them and started shooting into the car, killing Roane and wounding the other man. Kittrell hit another car while speeding from the scene. The driver of that car got Kittrell's license plate number, leading to Kittrell's arrest.
