Thursday, Aug. 30

7:26 a.m. Donte Harris Sr., a 21-year-old African-American man, was shot in the head and left arm in an alley behind the 2900 block of Rockrose Avenue near Druid Hill Park. He died at a city hospital at 7:53 a.m.

Saturday, Sept. 1

1:46 a.m. Darrien Jackson, a 22-year-old African-American man, was staying with a relative in the 1300 block of Lakewood Avenue. He did not have a key and was waiting outside for someone to let him in when he was shot in the stomach. He died at an area hospital. This is the fourth murder in Berea this year.

Sunday, Sept. 2

2:18 a.m. Police were called the 4800 block of the Alameda for a shooting. When they arrived there was a large crowd in front of a residence in the block. Larelle Amos, a 22-year-old African-American woman, had been shot in the chest. There had been an altercation in the block during which a gun was fired. Police believe that Amos was not involved in the altercation and may have been struck by a stray bullet. She died at a local hospital at 2:56 a.m. Amos is the 15th female murdered this year. There were 15 females murdered in all of 2011.


Three people were arrested for the murders of Euclides and Troy Manley. Tyrell Martin Hill, a 27-year-old African-American man, was arrested on drug charges on Aug. 16 and was later charged with the murders. Marcel Graham, a 27-year-old African-American man, was arrested on Aug. 24 and Evric Morgan, a 27-year-old African-American man, was arrested on Aug. 29. Troy and Euclides Manley, 33 and 35 year-old African-American men respectively, were shot in the 600 block of Linnard Street on Aug. 15.

On Aug. 22, Isaac Truss, a 23-year- African-American man, was sentenced to 50 years in prison for murdering Keith Cooper and Edward Jones. Cooper, a 47-year-old African-American man, was shot in his apartment at 1 West Conway Street by the Inner Harbor on Aug. 20, 2011. Two days later, Truss shot Jones, a 50-year-old African-American man, at a bus stop in the 200 block of West Fayette Street. Police used Citiwatch cameras to track Truss from the second homicide to a convenience store. He had the 38 caliber handgun used in both killings in his waistaband when he was arrested.

Dominic Gantt, a 17-year-old African-American, turned himself in to police headquarters on Aug. 28 in connection with the murder of Lindale Carrington, a 33-year-old African-American. Carrington was stabbed to death on Aug. 24 in the 600 block of Brisbane Road.
