MAN ON A LEDGE A caper film wrapped in a jumper-on-a-ledge thriller starring Sam Worthington, Elizabeth Banks, Jamie Bell, and Anthony Mackie. Opens Jan. 27.

THE MILL AND THE CROSS Based on Michael Francis Gibson’s book of the same name, Lech Majewski’s 2011 film explores Bruegel’s 16th-century masterpiece “The Way to Calvary” and its times through a visually potent mix of imagery modeled on the painting itself via subtle CGI as well as a foreground story starring Rutger Hauer (as Bruegel), Charlotte Rampling, and Michael York. At the Charles Theatre Jan. 28 at noon and Jan. 30 at 7 p.m.

MYSTERY TRAIN Jim Jarmusch’s deadpan 1989 three-episode exploration of the mystique of Memphis comes to the Spiral Cinema screening series. At the Windup Space Jan. 25 at 9 p.m.

ONE FOR THE MONEY Katherine Heigl returns in (quelle surprise) a romcom in which she’s a bounty hunter on the trail of an old flame (Jason O’Mara). Opens Jan. 27.
