Maryland incoming freshman Diamond Stone has been named one of 24 players invited to participate in the USA Basketball men’s under-19 world championship team training camp June 12-16 in Colorado Springs, Colo. Twelve players will be selected. Stone, a McDonald’s All American, was a member of the 2014 USA U-17 world championship team and was named to the FIBA U-17 world championship all-tournament team. He averaged 13.6 points and 7.2 rebounds and led the USA U-16 team to a gold medal.

Ray Lewis among nominees for College Football Hall of Fame

Retired Ravens inside linebacker Ray Lewis has been nominated again for the College Football Hall of Fame. He was nominated for induction last year, but wasn’t selected. Lewis is a former University of Miami consensus All-American and a runner-up for the Dick Butkus Award — given to the nation’s top linebacker. He is competing with 92 players and 27 coaches from the divisional ranks and 76 players and five coaches from the Football Bowl Subdivision ranks. Other Bowl Subdivision nominees include former Baltimore Colts quarterback Bert Jones, an All-American at LSU; Ravens assistant coach Mark Carrier, an All-America safety at USC; former Ravens backup quarterback Randall Cunningham, an All-American at Nevada-Las Vegas; former Ravens safety Rod Woodson, an All-American at Purdue; and former Ravens safety Anthony Poindexter, an All-American at Virginia. Former Maryland State (now UMES) defensive back Billy Thompson is a divisional player nominee.

Baseball: Frostburg State (43-9) finished second and Salisbury (33-6-1) fifth in the final D3baseball.com and American Baseball Coaches Association polls.

Softball: Salisbury finished the season ranked No. 3 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association’s Division III poll.

Golf: Loyola Maryland sophomore Matt Oshrine (Pikesville) and freshman Jeremy Wall were named Division I PING All–Northwest Region.

Wideout Robinson carted off with likely knee sprain

Ravens wide receiver Aldrick Robinson suffered a knee injury during an organized team activity Tuesday and was carted off the practice field, according to NFL sources. The initial prognosis is a sprained knee, a source said. Michael Campanaro Robinson was signed to a $660,000 reserve-future deal in January.

Pimlico, Laurel to host Belmont Stakes parties

The Maryland Jockey Club will host two Belmont Stakes parties Saturday when Preakness winner American Pharoah attempts to make history by becoming the first Triple Crown winner in 37 years. Gates will open at 10:45 a.m. at Pimlico Race Course and Laurel Park. Belmont’s first race is scheduled for 11:45 a.m., and Pimlico’s final live racing program of 2015 will begin at 12:45 p.m. Pimlico’s final live program of the season will feature a mandatory payout of the 10-cent Rainbow 6. American Pharoah T-shirts will be given free to the first 2,200 fans at Pimlico and the first 1,800 at Laurel with paid admission. Both facilities will offer Triple Crown buffets for $35 per person. National Women’s Soccer League: Washington Spirit forward Crystal Dunn was voted Player of the Week after scoring the winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Portland Thorns FC on Saturday night.

Football: Former Towson offensive lineman Randall Harris of Lanham has been selected to play on the U.S. men’s national team, assembled by USA Football. The team, composed of 45 U.S. football players age 20 and older, will compete in the seven-nation International Federation of American Football world championship July 9-18 in Canton, Ohio.

NHL: The Washington Capitals re-signed right wing Garrett Mitchell to a two-year, two-way contract. Mitchell, 23, had four goals, four assists and 121 penalty minutes in 64 games with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League in 2014-15.

NFL: The Washington Redskins signed free-agent nose tackle Jerrell Powe and offensive lineman Willie Smith and waived tackle Tovar Allen.

Major League Soccer: The league suspended D.C. United forward Chris Rolfe one game and fined him an undisclosed amount for violent conduct that endangered the safety of an opponent during a May 30 match against the Philadelphia Union.
