Contact Sheet: Liveaboards by Katherine Guo

I am interested in alternative living situations and the different ways that people can live that are outside of the norm. I aim to explore the day-to-day life of people who live on boats, aka "liveaboards." This photo series follows the lives of three people: Justin, Mike, and Mike’s girlfriend Erin, who are docked at Henderson’s Wharf in Fells Point in Baltimore, MD. My photos follows their lives on the boat year-round. As liveaboards, these people have made themselves societal outcasts. To move, all they must do is take their boat and sail it wherever they please. By rejecting a house or apartment, they are now a strange novelty. Instead of being tied to the land, their boats are a symbol of their lifestyle choices and desire for freedom and a nomadic lifestyle.-Katherine Guo
