Burning Carbs: The Chometz Ceremony in Photos

At Passover levened bread products, Chometz, is burned as it's forbidden to be eaten during the holiday. The ceremony was held at Pimilico and organized by Dr. Bert Miller, who has been holding the ceremony in Baltimore since 1982. It's the fifth year at Pimlico; the previous years' ceremonies were held at the Glen Avenue firehouse. Miller estimated that more than 3,000 people will come to burn bread in barrels fueled by palms from Sukkot and charcoal.
