Friday, April 8

10:40 p.m. Police officers found Kwesi Owens, a 22-year-old African-American man, lying in the street in the 3100 block of Westmont Court near Gwynns Falls Park in West Baltimore. Owens had been shot several times and was pronounced dead at Maryland Shock Trauma Center about half an hour later.

 

Sunday, April 10

3:35 p.m. In the middle of the afternoon, Roman Paige, a 16-year-old African-American boy, was in the 1400 block of East Monument Street near Sojourner-Douglass College, when he was shot once in the back of the head. He was pronounced dead 20 minutes later at nearby Johns Hopkins Hospital. Paige is the second person under 18 to be murdered this month. He’s also one of at least 30 people to be murdered this year by being shot in the head.
