Murders This Week: 2
Murders This Year: 44

After a bloody start to the year, the city’s homicide rate slowed down with just two murders this week.

Thursday, Feb. 17

11 a.m. Baltimore Police officers found a man and woman shot to death inside their apartment in the 3700 block of Belle Avenue in Northwest Baltimore’s Callaway-Garrison neighborhood. Family members first found the pair lying in the bedroom of the apartment. Tiarra Palmer, a 23-year-old African-American woman, had been shot repeatedly in the head. Larry Brown, a 26-year-old African-American man, was shot once in the head. Police believe that Brown shot Palmer and then killed himself. Palmer is the eighth women to be murdered this year.

Friday, Feb. 18

1:23 a.m. Craig Morris, a 32-year-old Caucasian man from Curtis Bay, was with a friend at the Ritz Cabaret, a strip club in the 500 block of South Broadway in Fells Point. As Morris and his friend were walking out, a group of five men, including Teon Hall, a 28-year-old African-American man from Annapolis, were walking in. Hall and Morris got into a verbal argument, which escalated into a fistfight. Hall then pulled out a gun and shot Morris and his friend. Hall and the other people he was with got into a car and drove away, but they were stopped by police. While homicide detectives interviewed them, Morris died at Johns Hopkins Hospital. His friend survived. Hall has been charged with Morris’ murder.
