Updates

The man who died after a fight on April 25 in the 2800 block of Erdman Avenue has been identified as Frank Swiston, a 53-year-old Caucasian man.

The person killed in the quadruple shooting in the 3300 block of Frederick Avenue on May 3 was Fabian Palmer, an African-American man from Randallstown. He was 24 years old at the time of his death, not 25 as was previously reported.

On May 6, Lance Walker, a 29-year-old African-American man, was found guilty of murder for his role in the death of Marlon Beckford, a 31-year-old African-American man from New York. Walker's wife, Nadirah Moreno, a 32-year-old African-American woman, was found guilty of aiding and abetting for her role in the death. According to the charging documents, Beckford brought a woman and her 11-month-old son to Baltimore from the Bronx on Oct. 30, 2007. He met Moreno at Good Samaritan Hospital, where she was supposed to give him some money. Instead, she had Beckford drive to an apartment complex in the 5800 block of Edgepark Drive. Moreno got out of the car, said she was going to get the money, and went into the apartment building. Beckford, the woman, and the baby stayed in the car. Walker then drove up with another man and fired into the car, striking Beckford. Beckford tried to drive away, but hit a parked car. Walker then got out of the car and continued shooting Beckford. The woman and her child were not injured. Both Moreno and Walker face maximum sentences of double life plus 120 years in prison.

Alan Ruiz, a 22-year-old Hispanic man, was charged with the April 18 murder of Ernesto Flores, a 23-year-old Hispanic man. Flores was stabbed to death in the Baltimore-Linwood neighborhood. Ruiz, who was already in Central Booking for an unrelated offense, was charged with Flores' murder on May 7.

Donnell Johnson, a 35-year-old African-American man, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on May 7. Johnson shot and killed Byron Dickey, a 28-year-old African-American man, on Aug. 12, 2007.

Why is it that New York City can decrease their murder rate to date by 21.6% from last year, yet we have a 14.2% INCREASE! The bad part is that our murder rate is over 9 times higher than them, in other words, if he had the same size population as NYC we would have 1280 bodies lying in our streets.

Thank god most people know how badly our city is run to move here.
