Tuesday, Aug. 30

6:50 a.m. Leamon Bullock, a 39-year-old African-American man from Pen Lucy, was found in a playground in the 2300 block of Atlantic Avenue near Morrell Park Elementary and Middle School in Southwest Baltimore. He had been shot repeatedly in the head and was pronounced dead 16 minutes later.

6 p.m. Nearly 12 hours after Bullock’s death, police got a call for a suspicious death in the 2700 block of Mount Holly Street in Northwest Baltimore’s Windsor Hills neighborhood. When officers arrived, they found Lydia Wingfield, a 79-year-old African-American woman, dead on the floor inside her home with abrasions on the right side of her face. She was taken to the medical examiner’s office, where her death was ruled a homicide by asphyxiation. Wingfield is the third African-American women to be asphyxiated this year. All three women were over 60 years old and found at home, but the Baltimore Police Department does not believe the homicides are connected.
