Murder Ink: 6 murders this week; 242 murders this year

Six murders is a light week in Baltimore these days. We're about 20 behind last year’s record pace.

Monday, Oct. 3

1:56 p.m. Ricardo Goods Jr., an 18-year-old African-American man, was on the 2600 block of Robb Street in the Coldstream Homestead Montebello neighborhood when someone shot him multiple times. He died at a hospital soon after.

Tuesday, Oct. 4

1:00 p.m. Edward Hursey, a 25-year-old African-American man, was on the 3300 block of Cliftmont Avenue in Belair Edison, about two miles from where Goods was killed the day before, when someone shot him in the head and body. Police say Hursey was sitting on the porch of a vacant house when a person sitting on the porch of another vacant house several doors down started shooting at him. Hursey ran but the shooter chased him down and fired more shots. He died at a hospital a few minutes later. Police say he lived on the 3000 block of Belair Road.

10:15 p.m. Walker Gladden, a 26-year-old African-American man, was on the 400 block of Rose Street in McElderry Park when someone shot him in the torso. He was pronounced dead at Johns Hopkins at 11:40 p.m. Police say Gladden lived on the 2400 block of Orleans Street, about two blocks from where he was killed.

Thursday, Oct. 6

5:40 p.m. Christopher Green, a 31-year-old African-American man, was near the intersection of Dolphin and McCulloh streets when someone shot him multiple times. He died soon after at a hospital. Police say Green lived on the 300 block of S. Catherine Street.

Sunday, Oct. 9

11:35 p.m. Sharon Dorsey, a 60-year-old woman, was stabbed in the upper body while in a home on the 2500 block of W. Lafayette Avenue. Police were called to a domestic disturbance and found Dorsey and another woman, 80 years old, with multiple stab wounds. Dorsey died shortly thereafter at a hospital. The other woman was in critical condition at press time. Police say they have identified a person of interest but have not found him yet.

Monday, Oct. 10

2:06 p.m. A 29-year-old man who police have not yet publicly identified was shot multiple times on the 3700 block of Beehler Avenue, in Central Park Heights. Police and medics found him there and got him to a hospital, where he died a short time later. His is the fourth murder this year in Central Park Heights.

Update: The man who was killed last Monday on the 2600 block of W. Patapsco Avenue was Brandon Fleet, age 23, of the 2300 block of Annapolis Road.
