The mayor's race had gotten more competitive in the past week, though not with the candidates we had predicted. Conor Meek, who wrote an op-ed in The Sun criticizing the police's conduct after he reported being mugged on the Gwynn Falls Trail, had entered the race as an independent. Last Tuesday, engineer and Harvard business school grad Calvin Young entered the race as a Democratic candidate. They both join SRB, Sheila Dixon, and writer and minister Mack Clifton, who filed to run back in May. Given that candidates have until February to file their candidacy, it seems certain that the field will just get more crowded with candidates, giving Baltimore voters plenty of options to choose from in this election.
