BCPR Voters

Voters Despite bitterly contested gubernatorial primary races on both the Democratic and Republican side, turnout for last week's primary was around 22 percent, amongst the lowest in state history, even lower than in 2010, when O'Malley and Robert Ehrlich faced minimal opposition from their respective parties. Some have suggested the primaries be moved back to the fall, when voters are more "engaged," or than primaries be open to independents and others (yes, please!), but the trend seems bigger than that, as voters seem ever more disinterested in--or uninspired by--their electoral options.
