For the last few years, few names have rung more bells in the Baltimore Club scene than Murder Mark, but no more. The man is still making music, but now as Mighty Mark (pictured). As usual, Mark has lots of new projects out: a club remix of Future's street-rap hit "Sh!t," the Bad Sista EP now on sale on iTunes, a stop-motion animated video for the song "Bout to Kill the Club," and a great DJ mix for TopBillinMixes.com called Songs to Rock off to While in Cherry Hill. The name on some of those projects is still Murder Mark, but be aware of the new moniker and the new website address: mightymarkadventures.com.
This Friday, Dec. 20, DJ Fleg and DJ Exclaime's long-running monthly party at the Windup Space, Four Hours of Funk, holds its final event of 2013, with the acclaimed Washington, D.C. dance duo the Beautiful Swimmers as the night's special guests. And the next night, Steez Promo is holding a holiday party at Baltimore Soundstage headlined by the DJ duo Heroes x Villains and "trapstyle bass" producer Kennedy Jones.
Next Friday, Dec. 27, Good Vibes and Pulsar will present the annual post-Christmas event Hardcore Holidaze 3 at the venue the Station / Mate, in South Baltimore's Brooklyn neighborhood. In these dog days of trap and dubstep domination, Hardcore Holidaze is an event aimed at capturing "the full spectrum of EDM," with one room focusing on happy hardcore and trance acts (DJ Pikey and DJ Starkiss) and another room running the gamut from drum'n'bass (Rod Gnarly) to hardtek (Sinespawn) to house music (Twitch Effect, Digiwolf). Presale tickets can be purchased at aotmr.com/events with a credit card or even with Bitcoin, if you're into that kind of thing.
